This shrine has been worshipped since the Edo period, but has been redesigned by a prominent Japanese architect as part of the house project. The shrine still maintains its traditional aspects, but has a modern twist on it. The way the light travels through the main glass staircase is surreal. The glass stairs were designed to express "ground" and "sky" as one. The main shrine is always open and can be visited anytime. There is also another part of the shrine where you wan walk into a cave looking thing. It is all dark and really narrow, so you need to a flashlight with you to see things inside. Once you walk all the way to the inside, you'll find the glass staircases with water again, and it's mysterious. My favorite part of this shrine is when you walk out of the cave. You'll see great view of the island overlooking the sea, and it is breathtaking.
