Meguro Sky Garden is an urban park that sits quietly on the roof of Ohashi Junction – a spiralling, multi-level 'trumpet interchange' connecting two expressways just west of Shibuya. Open till 9pm each night it offers respite at the end of a long day, and is a great spot to watch the sun set while the city becomes luminous below.
From street level you only get the slightest glimpse of the sky garden and you can also see plants and flowers from that season while enjoying a view of the city. Entrance is via a silver-clad tunnel, then a series of paths winds up a gentle slope, past vegetables, herbs and other greenery, to several grassy spots and a selection of seating with a view. From here it's best to just submit to the idea that you are floating in the sky. Which, of course, you are.
The garden is in a loop shape and the entire surface is sloped. It is a great place to see some of Japan's culture It is a very interesting experience unlike any other garden in Japan. At the highest point of the garden you can also see Mt. Fuji in the distance which makes for an amazing photo spot.
