This is the most unique and inspiring installation I've come across. It looks like a nice beach house outside, but it is an art exhibition space where heartbeats of people all around the world become part of the art work. The have 2 different parts inside. First, you will see an individual booth to record your own heartbeat with an equipment. Once you're done recording, you will be instructed to walk into another room which is all dark and you can't see anything but a little lamp. The lamp flashes along with the heartbeats that have been recorded.
Every heartbeat has different rhythm which makes the room look entirely different, so sometime it's slow and dark, but other times, it's fast and blight. When the lamp flashes, you get to see more art work on the walls. Mine was a bit slow, but I enjoyed the experience of my heartbeats blending into this unique creation of art. Listening to the heartbeats of complete strangers is the kind of experience you would not get anywhere else unless you work for hospital. It felt like an oddly humbling experience as I feel connected to people around the world that I have never met before - through the sound. You also get an option of buying a CD of your own heartbeats, and they package it very nicely! I'd totally love to go back again.
