Shimokitazawa is such a unique neighborhood in Tokyo! It's one of my favorite places to go shopping as there are so many vintage stores that have one of a kind pieces that you won't be able to find anywhere else. There are also not many large, mainstream shops here so everything you find is special. The vibe here is a lot of calm in comparison to crowded and busy places like Shibuya, Harajuku, or Shinjuku.
Shimokitazawa also has some of the cutest little cafes and restaurants. They are all very small, but the food at all these places are home cooked and delicious. The ingredients the cafes and restaurants in Shimokitazawa use are very fresh and you can tell they have put thought into what they serve.
If you come at night, Shimokitazawa is home to many live music bars where locals bands will play. The music scene here is more indie, but you can find bars that play a variety of different genres of music.
Shimokitazawa is easily accessible from Shibuya, on the Inokashira line, it's just one stop if you take the express train.
