I was born in the Philippines, but I grew up in an expat community in China. I was raised with a multicultural background (my parents both have Chinese and Spanish blood in them), and I like to think that the privilege of a multicultural background has affected my upbringing positively.
I have some experience working as an early employee for relatively successful startups (I was recently software engineering employee #1 in a game studio that I helped build from the ground-up, and an early employee for a YCombinator startup whose early engineering team I helped assemble), so if tech and startups are your thing, we can perhaps compare notes and learn from each others' professional experience and nerd out about technology and how we can use it to make the world a better place (or more interesting, at least).
When I'm not typing away on a computer, I enjoy a myriad of other things (when I have the time and/or energy) -- music, movies, fiction, video games (Overwatch is a real time drain!), travelling (as opposed to "sightseeing"), food, science/technology, philosophy, nature (particularly mountains and sizeable bodies of water), and learning new things (I think my "comfort zone" is being the outsider/foreigner/gaijin/least intelligent person in the room, constantly learning from other people).
