I like this temple because you can very clearly see Tokyo Tower in the background. This location is a great representation of Tokyo: a mix of old and new!
This is a great restaurant with a cool atmosphere! I went for lunch and my Japanese style set meal was under 1,000 yen. My sister tells me this is a great place to come for drinks and dessert too but I haven't tried it yet. Located right in the heart of Shibuya! It is up stairs.
Kinkaku-ji is one of the most beautiful temples I have ever been to! The gold reflecting off of the water is absolutely beautiful. The only down side is how busy the temple is! It was so difficult to get a picture of the temple without someone else in the background.
Kiyomizu-dera is a must see if you are visiting Kyoto! There are many small shops lining the uphill path to the temple. Take a leisurely stroll up that road on your way to the temple! (You may want to stop for matcha ice cream too!) The temple itself is very impressive and the greenery around the temple when I visited in May was beautiful. Around the temple you can enjoy soba for lunch under traditional umbrellas. There are also three famous streams of water that visitors hope to drink from for a certain wish!
Wow!!! Visiting the Ghibli Museum was like a dream come true! Once you enter the museum, you are transported into the magical world of Ghibli. There are no photos allowed inside the museum but that is actually a good thing because this is something you should only experience with your eyes! It was absolutely beautiful and I recommend this museum to any Ghibli fan. The gift shop has exclusive Ghibli Museum items as well. There is also a special Ghibli Museum bus that will take you from the train station to the front of the museum.
If you're a fan of Shonen Jump manga/anime, J-World is a must go! Various sections like Naruto, One Piece, Prince of Tennis, etc. You can take photos with iconic spots from that anime and play games. When I went, someone dressed as Naruto was walking around. Bring your foreign passport for discounted ticket!
Very nice and modern aquarium by Sky Tree. 4 stars because it is pricey and a bit small. Nice place to go for a complete Sky Tree date!
Great place to buy reasonable priced goods. Ameyokocho is a good place to buy cheap sports wear. It's a great place to go before or after your visit to Ueno Park.
I LOVE Oedo Onsen Monogatari!! Located in Odaiba, it's a great place to stay the whole day or end your day with a relaxing bath. The onsen provides you with yukata to wear in the facilities and they utilize a cashless payment system and you settle the bill before you leave. I've been here twice and I enjoy it every time! Great atmosphere. There is a free shuttle from Tokyo Teleport Station to the onsen. Be sure to take that because it's quite a long walk.
One of the best parks in Tokyo! It's very spacious and is great for cherry blossom viewing. I believe it costs 200 yen to enter. You cannot bring alcohol in.
If you love Gundam, this is a must see. Make sure you go in both day and night because the Gundam lights up at night.
I went at 5pm (they open at 5:30 for dinner) and there was already a crazy line outside! We waited and got seated around 6pm. It was really delicious! But be warned that the tonkatsu is quite fatty. If you're not a big fan of the fat, I suggest you select the cheese filled katsu instead. Overall, great waitstaff and easy to find the restaurant!
One of my favorite places in Tokyo! I stumbled upon this area in 2015 and instantly fell in love. My sister and I had so much fun looking at all the old toys, snacks, and games. I will definitely come back during my next visit to Tokyo!
The Cup Noodles Museum in Yokohama is a lot of fun! You can see all the different types of cup noodles, learn about the history of cup noodle, and even make your own unique cup noodle! I enjoyed it very much.
Visiting Shurijo was a great experience and a must do for anyone visiting Okinawa! This castle is a rebuilt version of the original one (which was almost completely destroyed during the Battle of Okinawa). I enjoyed coming here to learn about the Ryukyu Kingdom and the culture.
